Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born 12 November 1961 at Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onestiin Gheorghe Gheorghiu dej, now Onesti Romania). She was the first person to reach a flawless 10 during an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi, a Romanian gymnastics teacher who was later Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci aged six. Comaneci was the first to compete for time at the national junior championships and finished 13th. Following that, she became champion. The first time she competed in an international meet, which was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for nations in the Communist bloc, she won 3 gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she won named the all-around Junior Champion. In her first international competition as a senior, in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning four gold and one silver medal. The first female ever to successfully perform the backwards double salto while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was a teen, Carol Wayne began working in the entertainment field performing as figure skater. Together with her younger twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of a traveling show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. Her first professional gig was figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment programs Ice Capades. These shows included the ice skating of which was performed to music from the stage.
