Laura Linney was one of the best American actors in recent history. Her savacious and vulnerable performances have earned her a cult brand. Her father was a renowned writer, however Linney was raised as an all-only child by a single mom who was a nurse. In the summer when she was with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. She eventually studied acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career shortly after graduating, and then made her TV debut in the next year. In the years since she's been in many films, television productions as well as stage productions. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her time on the stage. But despite the many accolades, her love for the theatre isn't gone, and she still performs as a stage performer and screen.
