Katherine Heigl shares the ways that growing up as a child living in a white bubble changed the way she parented her adopted family of multiracial origins. She was in the movie "Firefly Lane" spoke to an interviewer that it didn't matter what color her skin was for her. After meeting her Korean-American adopted sister she realized the difference in how people were treated by her. Meg was asked if the way she was treated differed while they were together with their parents, and in the case of going out on their own. She said, 'Oh, yeah, all the times! This made me realize I was so ignorant," Heigl said to parents. The singer became angry, and she decided to use that anger to assist her daughters who were adopted by her. Heigl has a son who is 4 years with Josh Kelley, her husband over the last 13 years. Their daughter Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009. Adalaide is an Black 8-year old girl that was adopted by the couple in 2012.
